Medical Transcription Program
(30 credit hours, 30 weeks)
“Employment of medical transcriptionists is projected to grow faster than average for all occupations
through 2010.” “Employers prefer to hire transcriptionists who have completed postsecondary training in
medical transcription. Completion of a 2-year associate degree or 1-year certificate program-including
coursework in anatomy and medical terminology . . . is highly recommended” – from the U.S.
Department of Labor’s Occupational Outlook Handbook.
Participants will utilize 1000 minutes of dictation for practical experience. The 1000 minutes of dictation
is of providers that are men, women, foreign doctors, all styles and difficulties for everything encountered
in the workplace. At the end of the program, participants will be expected to complete a final examination
for Certification.
Upon successful completion of the program, participants will have a practical straight forward knowledge
required to work in a broad range of business and industry types such as the medical profession both in care
delivery functions and in functions that are strictly associated with the business side, the legal profession,
the insurance industry, third party auditing, and efficiency consulting.
