Message from the President:
Career Visions Institute was formed out of an idea that Mary Phillips, Executive Director of Career Visions Agency, had, that sometimes obstacles or barriers get in the way of progress for people. Her vision was to form an Institute where people could learn at their own pace, with encouragement from instructors, and realize their potential. When I was in high school, I said I wanted to become a doctor or a scientist and I was told that only men could do that and that I would be a good wife, mother or teacher. That could have been a barrier and that thinking probably did stop some people back then. But I had encouragement from my parents and teachers to take classes in subjects I was interested in anyway (like food safety), and not pay attention to those ridiculous remarks.
Some people were not interested in the classes when they were in high school or college and it may be that there were difficult circumstances where people did not have a fair chance to succeed. We like to think that if someone makes up his or her mind that they can do something, then they should be given the opportunity to try. We offer many certificate classes that are specialized. They can pave the way for more education, open the door to better job opportunities or could get you a promotion where you are now. I was a single mom raising four boys when I worked three jobs to put myself through school so I know about struggle. We want to be that encouragement for you to get started in a new direction for your life. Make up your mind to begin with one of our classes and who knows what adventures are going to be along the way for you! There is nothing like the feeling of accomplishment when you receive a Certificate or a Diploma and you can say ? ?Look! I finished! I did this! I am proud of this! I am proud of me!?
